For ‘he’, ‘she’, and ‘it’ in positive Present Simple sentences, we add -s to the verb. This is a very important rule for talking about daily routines, habits, and facts related to one person or thing. For example, He works in an office. или She lives in Madrid. This small change helps English speakers understand you are talking about a single person or thing in the present. It shows that the action is regular or true. Remember, the verb have is special; it changes to has для he, she, и it. For instance, He has a car. Knowing this rule is key for clear communication in English, especially when describing what people do every day.

When Do We Use the Present Simple?

We use the Present Simple to talk about things that are always true or happen regularly.

  • Facts: The sun rises in the east.
  • Habits or routines: I drink coffee every morning.
  • Schedules: The train leaves at 7 PM.

In this lesson, we focus on using the Present Simple for he, she, и it in positive sentences.

Forgetting the -s

Spanish verbs change a lot for different subjects. In English, for the Present Simple, only he, she, it add -s. A common mistake for Spanish speakers is to forget this -s.

  • Incorrect: She live in Madrid.
  • Correct: She lives in Madrid.

Using ‘haves’ instead of ‘has’

Another mistake is trying to add -s в have, making it haves. Remember, have is irregular.

  • Correct: He has a car.
