To talk about what you are able to do, or what is possible, use the English word can<\/span>.<\/strong> For things you are not able to do, or that are not possible, use can’t<\/span>. Can<\/span> is a special verb called a ‘modal verb’. This means it does not change its form for different subjects like I<\/span>, you<\/span>, he<\/span>, o they<\/span>. How to Use ‘Can’ for Positive Ability (+)<\/h2>\n

To say what someone can<\/strong> do, follow this simple structure:<\/p>\n

    The base form of the verb is the infinitive without ‘to’. For example, swim<\/span>, no to swim<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    How to Use ‘Can’t’ for Negative Ability (-)<\/h2>\n

    To say what someone cannot<\/strong> do, or does not have the ability to do, use can’t<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    Can’t<\/span> is the short form of cannot<\/span>. It is very common in spoken and written English.<\/p>\n
